RSECon2022 is coming up fast; the conference is just one month away now!

You can start planning your conference using the Programme, check out the colocated events and don’t forget to book accommodation if you haven’t already.

A huge thank you to our sponsors without whom we couldn’t have this conference each year. We’re delighted to welcome back Oracle this year as well as EPCC and SSI. Redhat and the Alan Turing Institute join us for the first time this year.

One of the co-located events is an RSE Leaders Meeting and Dinner. This network is open to all leaders and aspiring leaders. If you’d like to register for the meeting and dinner, sign up asap. Please note, if you choose to go to the Leaders dinner on Monday night you might not be able to attend the welcome dinner at the Wylam Brewery – but some people are going to attempt to do both!

For those interested in the workshop “Accelerate Data Engineering Pipelines with cuDF and Visualise Data with Plotly on Baskerville”, the organisers have kindly requested that you pre-register for that so that an account can be created for you ahead of the workshop. Due to finite GPU compute resources on Baskerville, there are 20 places available on a first-come, first-served basis for this workshop. In the event that the workshop is over-subscribed, we can pair people up – please indicate your preference on the Google sign-up form.

We have opened our merchandising store. Check it out to see the range of t-shirts, hoodies and other conference merch. We will let you know if we are able to run additional promotions before the conference.

Dinner Venues
The full addresses of these venues will also appear in the programme. We have also made a map showing all the main venues being used, please see https://goo.gl/maps/rZtC9M788CF9d67x5.

Monday 5th September – RSE Leaders Dinner at Baltic SIX, 19:00. This will be a seated dinner for those who have signed up in advance to this evening. The full address will be on the programme soon and menu choices will be sent out to the diners next week.

Monday 5th September – Welcome Dinner at Wylam Brewery open from 19:00 with food service at 19:30. This will be an informal street food dinner and you will be provided with 3 tokens to choose your dinner from 4 street food vendors. An arrival drink of Wylam Beer, Prosecco, Elderflower fizz, diet coke or water is offered along with a cash/card bar for further drinks. We have sole use of this venue for the evening.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Wylam Brewery is located in a park accessed by a long tarmacked driveway through the park. From the entrance gates, the walk to the brewery takes 10 minutes and we have hired one golf buggy to do multiple trips from the entrance gates to the brewery building but you can set off walking if you wish.

If you take a taxi to the brewery, it MUST NOT go down the driveway and MUST drop you at the entrance gates. You will see conference committee members there to guide you to the brewery. If you have any reason why you need the taxi to take you directly to the brewery building, please contact Claire ([email protected]) who can apply for permission for your taxi to access the driveway. Unfortunately, we are limited to very few permissions to do this.

Tuesday 6th September – Casual dinner at By the River Brew, with a 19:00 start and food service at 19:30. You will be handed 2 tokens for food to choose from several street food vendors and 1 token for a drink from the bar.

Wednesday 7th September – Formal dinner at the Civic Centre with a 19:00 drinks reception and seated dinner served at 19:30. More information about the menu will be available soon on the conference website.
